340 Six Pack Rebuild...

Here is the 340 Six Pack engine once we got it out of the car...

340 6 PACK JUST AFTER BEING PULLED FROM THE CAR

Off to Tom's Performance Shop it went for a nice hot bath, pressure test and magna-flux.  Because the block had been punched once before, we took it out to a .040 over bore, replaced the pistons, bearings and dropped a custom clay smith cam shaft in it.

Like the T/A block, the heads were also tested.  To know you have a real T/A head, look for the following inidicators... 3418915 & AAWJ 360 markings, off set push rod holes on the intake ports and the larger 2.02 & 1.60 valves.  We did a complete head and valve job.

Then came the assembly.  A new water pump, powder coated the pulleys and exhaust manifolds, rebuilt the six pack carbs (Merle's Carburator) and slapped it all back together.

Now came the dyno.  There are 4 videos posted of the dyno process on the Video and related links tab to the left.  Below is are the summary print out of the dyno results...

As you will see in the below photos, the dyno details do not reflect the maximium performance summaries.  These details have been calculated based on the RW (rear wheel) HP and torque rated dyno results of the following;

290.3 RW maximum HP @ 6,000 RPM + 24% or 69.67 HP = 359.97 maximum flywheel HP.  344.5 RW maximum torque @ 2,100 RPM + 24% or 82.56 Torque = 427.06 maximum flywheel torque.  Either way, it should make for some fun conversations with the tire store every so often!

Once I got the engine home, I  gave it a  final once over of Mopar orange - engine paint to give it that fresh clean look.
